About Andreas

Andreas (b. 1998) is a Cypriot conductor based in the Netherlands, currently completing the prestigious National Master in Orchestral Conducting (NMO), where he is mentored by Jac van Steen, Ed Spanjaard, and Antony Hermus.

He has worked with renowned orchestras across Europe, such as the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Athens State Orchestra. Most notably, in June 2024, he conducted the BBC Philharmonic in a program of Andronikou, Ye, and Skalkottas, recorded for BBC Radio 3.

His professional experience includes assisting esteemed conductors such as Martyn Brabbins, Sir Andrew Davis, Juanjo Mena, John Storgårds, and Joshua Weilerstein. In Greece, he served as assistant conductor to Alkis Baltas at the Philharmonic Society of Corfu Symphony Orchestra and founded a youth orchestra at the Ionian Conservatory, focusing on film music.

Dedicated to bringing music to life for every audience, Andreas returns twice this season to the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra for outreach, family and educational concerts. In September, he conducted an open-air concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of Austria, Finland and Sweden joining the EU, and in February, he will return to deliver educational and family concerts across Cyprus. He will also lead projects with the Noord Nederlands Orkest, including a “play-in” concert, where the orchestra sides up with amateur musicians to perform a famous symphony.

Equally at home on the opera stage, Andreas is passionate about exploring operatic masterpieces. During his time at RNCM, he conducted an adaptation of Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night for Lab Week, alongside his work on several staged opera scenes. Recent projects include The Cunning Little Vixen with the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and Rossini’s La Cambiale di Matrimonio with the Dutch National Opera Academy at the Bredeweg Festival.

Andreas began his conducting studies at Ionian University with Miltos Logiadis before continuing his education at the Royal Northern College of Music under Mark Heron and Clark Rundell.
